Before It Was
A Studio…
No Wasted started years before there was ever a plan to turn it into a business.
We were friends working regular jobs, waiting all week for the weekend and valuing whatever time we got to spend together. Sometimes that meant surfing, exploring, or making things. Other times, we were just hanging out. Usually, there was a camera somewhere nearby.
Somewhere along the way, No Wasted became the name for it. Not because we had to be doing something all the time, but because the time itself mattered. Doing a lot, doing a little, whatever. As long as it wasn’t wasted.
It wasn’t about making every second productive. It was about not overlooking the life happening in between everything else. The weekends with your friends. The things you work hard for. The little moments that don’t seem like much until you look back at them.
What started as a name between friends became a way of approaching creativity too. Finding something worth caring about in the ordinary. Taking a small idea, moment, product, or experience and seeing how far we can take it.
Make something big out of the small things.

Makanani
Jenesis Makanani is the creative director of No Wasted Studio.
Her background is in both creative marketing and filmmaking, spending years working with local Hawaiʻi businesses and learning how brands communicate, what makes people pay attention, and how creative fits into the bigger picture.
But the camera was always there.
What started as filming life with friends grew into a love for the entire creative process: finding the idea, shaping the story, directing the shoot, choosing the music, editing, coloring, and obsessing over the little details that make something feel right.
No Wasted became a place to bring those two sides together.
Today, Jenesis leads the creative behind the studio, developing concepts and carrying them through production and post while bringing in the right people when a project calls for it.
